Macquarie University: First Impressions

Ted, I believe we are about to embark upon a most unprecedented adventure.
I enrolled into a BSci (Major: Electronics) at Macquarie University, and I am now officially past the half way point for the maths bridging course I chose before starting MATH130.

Big Red Car

I have a BRC (pronounced BORK). :)
Pictures are here:

I'm sooo tired right now; spent the day in the heat, or the airconditioned and then heat again working on the car; and I haven't slept in about 28 hours now. It's not a record, but combined, it's taken its toll.

Beautiful Chinese in one word.

Beautiful Chinese, Rosebery: Terrible.
I had the misfortune of dining here. Celeste and Adrian used to eat there; so it must have been good at some point, but now it's terrible. Often you'll visit a restaurant with really crappy decor and you get surprised with really good food. This was not the case.
I can't recommend dine in or take away.

Hip Hop / Street Dance Class - Lesson the Second

So in my previous installment I mentioned this girl I like love and I was going to go to a dance class with her. I also mentioned I'd be back the next week. That last part was postponed, but we returned two weeks after the initial lesson.

Has anything progressed with the girl? Not really. A few things have happened since, but nothing I could call progress. I'll just have to keep on at it :)

Hip Hop / Street Dance Class - Lesson the First

So, there's this girl I have a thing for. It's been off and on and off and on for about 3 years. By now it's more off than on, but I genuinely love her, and am in love with her, and I can't seem to get her out of my head when it's off and she drives me crazy (in a good way!) when it's on. What's a boy to do?
Pursue her of course!

Home Brew All band, All mode transceiver

This page is going to document my homebrew transceiver. At present it is only a pipe dream on paper!
This is what I would like (eventually)

Cherry Ripe Spy Station

On Saturday, 7th November 2009, Balint and I took some of our radio gear to the hill in Sydney Park to see what we could listen to.

We used a 12V car battery for power, a cheap Jaycar Inverter, two of Balint's receivers and a wide band scanner (25MHz to I think 2GHz).

A Nice Seafood Dinner

I had a nice seafood dinner last night at Grotta Capri with Celeste. Their "the Mob" seafood platter for two (or more) is really awesome. Two large plates worth of mussels, prawns (cold and hot in really interesting garlic and butter sauces), baby octopus, lobster, crab and oysters left us feeling very full!

The Secret Delusion

So you're a teenager, and you're feeling a little miffed about something right now? Your parents might have just bought you The Secret to Teen Power. Or maybe you're an adult, in roughly the same situation and have been recommended The Secret?

Twin Peaks - A One Sentence Summary

Wow... I cannot believe how much this TV series stinks. Sure it has some highlights, mainly poking fun at small town America and it's quirks, the occasional piece of slapstick humour, and one FBI agent you just have to wonder if this guy could ever be for real, but all in all, I can see why it failed.

Let's start with the opening credits. Every episode in season 1 for 5 minutes before the show starts, the viewer is given a brief overview of the story so far and then must sit through agonisingly slow music covering setting the scene for a country town with picturesque waterfalls, forests, birds everything else to do with the country. Next we have the plot. Now while I don't have anything against long twisted inbred plots and sub plots in stories that build up to a big climax (hey, I'm a huge fan of Neal Stephenson and I love Guy Ritchie's work), this is just freaking ridiculous because it takes too long to get interesting, and then they fell victim to what I dub "Twenty Four Syndrome" when a TV show reaches the climax less than halfway into a season and then it falls into an anti-climatic rebuild to yet another "big thing". So let me give you a one sentence summary so that at least it sounds awesome:

(Spoilers and cynicism ahead)...
